How It Works

One of the big questions we get is how this process works to sign up and then to receive the meals. We deliver Hot meals three times a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Our volunteers deliver between 11 am and 1 pm. We also are able to deliver frozen meals for the other days of the week.

01

The best way to sign up is to call Metro Meals on Wheels at 612-623-3363.

They are best equipped to help potential clients move through the process if they are eligible for any government funding. They will then send the information to us to start the meals.

02

Information Collection

Before starting deliveries, we will need to have general information. This is to ensure that our drivers are best equipped to get the meals to the correct location. We also want to make sure that we are sending the correct meals. We are able to accommodate various diets including Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Mechanical Soft, Puree, Vegetarian, and Renal. We are also able to provide culturally specific diets including Hmong, Halal, and Latin.

Starting Deliveries

Once we have collected the information that we need, we will be able to start delivering meals. We deliver Hot meals on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Clients need to be home to receive the meals between 11 am and 1 pm. We are also able to provide frozen meals for the remaining days of the week.

04

Cancelling Deliveries

If there is a day that the client is unable to receive meals, we are able to put their deliveries on hold. We are able to do this for a single day, a time period, or in the case that the length of time is unknown, we can put deliveries on a longer hold until we are notified that the client wishes to continue deliveries.
